Do I Have Dry Skin or Dehydrated Skin?
Nope, that’s totally misunderstanding.
“So, what’s the different?”
Whoa, slow down... I will share with you all the whole
information (as far as I know) about ‘Dry Skin and Dehydrated Skin’.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DRY AND DEHYDRATED SKIN?
Dry skin is a skin type that has a fewer oil producing
glands on the skin. While, on the other hand, dehydrated skin is skin condition
anyone can experience.
Dermatologist Dr Ariel Haus (January 2017) explained
that dry skin has a lack of oil, or lipids. But dehydrated skin, there’s a lack
of water in the stratum corneum, which is the top layer of the skin. He also
added that someone doesn’t need to have dry skin to have dehydrated skin. Oily
and combination skin can be dehydrated as well.
HOW CAN I KNOW WHICH SKIN CONDITION DO I HAVE?
Well, here’s a quick run-down of the key characteristic:
Dry skin characteristics:
- Feels Rough
- Appears Dry
- Can be itchy and flaky
Dehydrated Skin Characteristics:
- Easy to get breakout
- Easy to get redness
- Feels tight and rough
- Shows fine line
CAUSES OF DEHYDRATED SKIN
SUN
Sunlight is the main role of this
‘dehydrated skin’ drama. As we know, UVA is not giving benefits to our skin. Dr
Haus said that UVA can increase the aging process which leads to wrinkles and
damaged skin. BIG NO for UVA.
HOT SHOWERS
Please, guys, don’t too often to wash
your face with hot water. It’s not good. Hot water can rid your sebum even the
needs one.
THE WRONG SKINCARE
If you’re using products that are
too harsh, too gentle and you’re using it infrequently or without any
instruction… it can lead you to dehydrated skin. And, don’t ever combine some harsh
ingredients at the same time. It can be a great recipe for disaster!
DON’T combine these ingredients:
- Retinoid/Retinol + Vitamin C
- Vitamin C + AHA/BHA
- AHA/BHA + Retinol
- Oil-Based + Water-Based
- Niacinamide + Vitamin C
- Glycolic Acid + Salicylic Acid
“Why I can’t combine them up?”
Guys, trust me. You should not.
That’s too harsh. I will explain it someday, okay? But I don't promise haha.
I THINK HAVE DEHYDRATED SKIN,
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
1.
USE SUNSCREEN
I warn you multiply times, use
SUNSCREEN. That’s the hero of this drama. You must wear it all day (not night).
Using SPF 30 is enough for use. Note, you have to use it frequently and
consistently. If you have oily skin type, try to use WATER-BASED sunscreen
without alcohol. Btw, this is my favorite one.
SKIN AQUA UV Moisture Gel
2.
USE SOME HYDRATED PRODUCTS
It’s a MOISTURIZER product.
Please use it every second in your life! I know it’s too overreacting, but it’s
true. Our skin has to be settle and moist every second to decrease dehydrated
condition. Use Hyaluronic Acid products to keep water in the skin. I use this
hydrating toner and moisturizer.

Hada Labo 3D Gel
3.
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
You already know the reason, right?
4.
HAVE A GOOD DIET
It means, please have good food. Avoid junk food and eat more vegetables and fruit are the best way to have
a good diet.
So, that’s all for my post today.
One more thing, all of the products that I use, may not suitable for everyone.
Remember, always be wise in choosing products for your skin.
Bye!
Big Hug,
Ica
That's good
